چکیده

Perfect graphs constitute a well-studied graph class with a rich structure, reflected by many characterizations w.r.t different concepts. Perfect graphs are, e.g., characterized as precisely those graphs G where the stable set polytope STAB(G) coincides with the clique constraint stable set polytope QSTAB(G). For all imperfect graphs STAB(G) ⊂ QSTAB(G) holds and, therefore, it is natural to measure imperfection in terms of the difference between STAB(G) and QSTAB(G). Several concepts have been developed in this direction, for instance the dilation ratio of STAB(G) and QSTAB(G) which is equivalent to the imperfection ratio imp(G) of G. To determine imp(G), both knowledge on the facets of STAB(G) and the extreme points of QSTAB(G) is required. For that, we extend a well-known result on antiblocking polyhedra by establishing a 1-1 correspondence between extreme points of QSTAB(G) and facet-defining subgraphs of G. We discuss several consequences, in particular, we give alternative proofs of several well-known results.

Effects of Radial Imperfection on the Load Capacity of Round HSS Columns

Geometric imperfections such as radial imperfection, diamond shape, and local dimples could affect the buckling mode and load carrying capacity of axially compressed steel tubular columns. This paper experimentally investigates the effect of radial imperfection on the load carrying capacity of tubular columns. Test samples include 100 specimens with different values for diameter, length, thickn...

Comparing Imperfection Ratio and Imperfection Index for Graph Classes

Perfect graphs constitute a well-studied graph class with a rich structure, reflected by many characterizations with respect to different concepts. Perfect graphs are, for instance, precisely those graphs G where the stable set polytope STAB(G) coincides with the fractional stable set polytope QSTAB(G). For all imperfect graphs G it holds that STAB(G) ⊂ QSTAB(G). It is, therefore, natural to us...

Local Imperfection Effects on Thermal Buckling Behavior of Composite Fiber Reinforced Truncated Conical Liner

Thermal buckling behavior of truncated conical liner reinforced by laminated composite is investigated in the presence of a general initial imperfection. For this purpose, the method of virtual work and first-order strain-deformation shell theory are employed to extract equilibrium equations. To this end, a finite element code is developed using the 3D 8-node shell element with six degrees of f...

Graph Imperfection II

The imperfection ratio is a graph invariant which indicates how good a lower bound the weighted clique number gives on the weighted chromatic number, in the limit as weights get large. Its introduction was motivated by investigations of the radio channel assignment problem, where one has to assign channels to transmitters and the demands for channels at some transmitters are large. In this pape...

Characterizing and bounding the imperfection ratio for some classes of graphs

Perfect graphs constitute a well-studied graph class with a rich structure, reflected by many characterizations with respect to different concepts. Perfect graphs are, for instance, precisely those graphs G where the stable set polytope STAB(G) equals the fractional stable set polytope QSTAB(G). The dilation ratio min{t : QSTAB(G) ⊆ t STAB(G)} of the two polytopes yields the imperfection ratio ...
